A well deserved end-of-year treat! 

These amazing children have consistently demonstrated outstanding behaviour and have kept all of their stars over a number of years. We are incredibly proud of their positive choices, kindness and respect every single day. Enjoy your well-deserved treat!

What an incredible adventure our Year 4 children have had at Winmarleigh! 

From the moment they arrived, they threw themselves into every challenge, enjoying team-building activities, rock climbing, zip lining, buggy building, habitat creation, survival skills, archery, problem solving and the Giant Swing! 

There were plenty of special moments along the way too, including singing around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, hot chocolates and lots of laughter with friends. 

Throughout the residential, the children showed fantastic resilience, determination, courage and teamwork, challenging themselves, trying new things and growing in confidence. We couldn’t be prouder of everything they achieved!

They returned home with lots of fantastic memories, increased confidence and plenty of stories to tell. A brilliant Winmarleigh adventure from start to finish! 

A huge congratulations to all of our winners and a big well done to everyone who took part! We were so impressed by the creativity, effort and thoughtful environmental messages in every entry.

A well deserved treat for an amazing group of children! We are so proud of each and every one of you and can’t wait to celebrate your final few weeks with us before you begin your exciting new chapter!

Nightingales thoroughly enjoyed their Ancient Greece workshop and have produced some fantastic pieces of art learning ✨

What a fantastic day of imagination, storytelling and talk! The day was focussed on developing oracy through creative, engaging experiences.

Throughout the day, our children immersed themselves in exciting activities that encouraged them to think, speak, listen and collaborate. They explored storytelling by:

🎭 Creating compelling characters, places and problems

🗣️ Using “Let’s Say…” activities to develop speaking and listening skills

📖 Bringing stories to life through freeze frames and role play

👥 Taking on different jobs, roles and responsibilities within a narrative

🖼️ Using imagery and visual prompts to spark ideas

💭 Developing curiosity and creativity through meaningful storytelling

It was wonderful to see every classroom buzzing with discussion, imagination and confidence as our children used their voices to share ideas, solve problems and create incredible stories together.

The children in Early Years throughly enjoyed pirate day. The pictures say it all!

Sports Day was packed with excitement, team work and plenty of smiles. The children showed determination, courage and fantastic sportsmanship from start to finish. We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. Well done to all our sporting stars! 

The children had a wonderful time at the Book Swap Bonanza! 

They loved choosing new stories, swapping books with friends, and spending time enjoying their new reads together. 

⚽️ The children had a fantastic time at the sponsored penalty shootout challenges with the coaches from OAFC! 💙

They showed great determination, encouraged another and celebrated each others successes with lots of smiles throughout the day. ✨

The Penalty Shoot-Out fundraising event was a fantastic success, raising an incredible £3,556.56 for our school!

We are also incredibly proud of Shakespeare’s Class, our highest fundraising class, who raised an outstanding £602.

Our School Councillors have been on a mission! 📚

They visited local charity shops to find pre-loved books for our school Book Swap. A huge thank you to our councillors for helping to make reading even more accessible for everyone! 

Drakes had a fun filled experience at Imagine That Museum. The Children experienced an interactive guide of art and science through four different zones of imagination and exploration. 

Our Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed dissecting hearts and lungs to explore and identify the main components of the circulatory system. A fantastic hands-on learning experience that bought their science learning to life!

Our Shakespeares class had a fantastic day exploring life as a miner at the National Coal Mining Museum. The children discovered what it was like to work underground as a miner, learned how mining has changed over the years, explored different types of rocks and how fossils are formed. 

We’ve loved having our chicks in school! 

The children enjoyed watching them hatch and learning about the life cycle, before spending time caring for them during their stay. A truly memorable experience for everyone!

A special thank you to our wonderful guitarists for providing such lovely music, and to the School Nursing Team and Early Help for sharing advice and support with families. We really appreciate everyone who came along and helped make the morning so welcoming and positive.

Lowrys had a fantastic day at Castleshaw exploring a range of habitats and investigating clues to identify the animals that might live there. 🍃

They enjoyed pond dipping where they discovered a variety of fantastic aquatic creatures and learned about their habitats. The children also explored micro-habitats on the Castleshaw grounds.

A fun, hands-on experience that brought their science learning to life 📸

Building confidence, balance and independence!

Our Reception children loved their balance bike training sessions and showed fantastic determination throughout.

Elgar’s visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park! 🌿✨

The children spent the day exploring a range of inspiring sculptures, observing details closely and developing their sketching skills. They then used their creativity to design and create their own sculptures.

It was a wonderful opportunity to combine art, nature and imagination. 

 A huge well done to our Propps Hall football team on their fantastic 4-1 win against Higher Failsworth!

The children played brilliantly, showed great teamwork and represented our school so well.

We are very proud of you all!  

The children explored different vegetation through quadrant sampling, observed nature by taking photographs, and sketched the forest area. A great afternoon of outdoor learning and creativity!

Some of our Year 6 children took part in Bikeability, where they developed their cycling confidence and road safety skills. They learned how to ride safely on the road, use clear signals, complete bike safety checks and navigate junctions responsibly. Well done to everyone who took part!
