Autumn 2026
⚔️🛡️Churchills trip to Castleshaw🛡️⚔️
The children stepped back in time to learn all about Roman forts and what life was like for a Roman soldier. They had the chance to handle and sort Roman artefacts, discovering fascinating clues about the past. The children even tested their teamwork skills by experimenting with different Roman army formations - including the famous Testudo formation.
Everyone showed great enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork throughout the day - what an amazing way to bring history to life!
Yellow Yellow Day
💛 Hello Yellow Day 💛
Our fantastic Wellbeing Champions led a whole-school assembly to raise awareness of mental health and the importance of looking after ourselves and each other.
The children then enjoyed some outdoor yoga, following different poses demonstrated by our Wellbeing Champions!
Throughout the afternoon, our champions visited classrooms to teach children simple breathing techniques to help manage feelings of worry, anger or upset.
A lovely day promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and the importance of taking care of ourselves and others! Well done to our wonderful Wellbeing Champions!
Think Deeper Day
🧠💭 Think Deeper Day!
What a fantastic day of thinking, questioning and challenging ourselves!
Across school, our children have been putting their thinking skills to the test, exploring different ideas, explaining their reasoning, making connections and taking their learning that little bit further!
Developing deeper thinking is an important part of our everyday learning, and we placed an extra spotlight on encouraging children to think creatively, take risks, show resilience and embrace a challenge.
We want our children to become confident, curious and independent learners who aren't afraid to make mistakes, ask questions and think outside the box!
We're so proud of the fantastic thinking we've seen across school. Take a look at some of our brilliant learning in action!
A Special Visitor!
Drakes and Darwins had a very important visitor as part of their learning about ‘People Who Help Us’!
The children enjoyed a visit from a police officer, who spoke to them about the important role the police play in keeping us safe and helping people in our community.
They also explored why we have rules, the importance of making safe choices and how police officers help and protect others.
What a lovely opportunity to bring their learning to life and develop their understanding of the people who help us every day!
